Weishäupl

Bavarian outdoor furniture manufactory: teak, powder-coated steel and woven rope collections hand-made in Stephanskirchen since 1969, read for the US buyer.

The house

A family manufactory built on outdoor living.

Weishäupl Möbelwerkstätten GmbH was founded in 1969 by Oskar F. Weishäupl in Stephanskirchen, Upper Bavaria. A trained precision mechanic, Weishäupl set up his Kunstgewerbliche Werkstätte with the aim of creating furniture and objects from scratch. A turning point came in 1974 when, inspired by a market parasol in Verona's Piazza delle Erbe, he developed a wood-and-canvas umbrella that became the company's first signature product. The Classic furniture line followed in the late 1970s, using teak for the first time.

Today the manufactory is led by the founder's children, Stefanie Weishäupl-Ehrl and Philipp Weishäupl, who took full ownership in 2010. Around seventy craftspeople work at the Stephanskirchen site. The catalogue spans sixteen furniture collections and nine parasol models, with designers including Thomas Albrecht, This Weber and Jan Benöhr contributing named lines. For US buyers, collections reach the market through authorised dealers, with lead times that vary by line and finish.

In focus

Denia

Designed by Jan Benöhr

Denia is Weishäupl's rope-and-teak outdoor collection, designed by Jan Benöhr. Its aluminium frame is finished in grey metallic powder coat; the seat covering is Batyline, and the backrest uses polyester rope woven over a teak rail. The collection adapts across dining armchairs, high-back relax chairs, two-seater sofas and a spacious daybed.

Cushions in Weishäupl's acrylic and upholstery ranges can be added across the line. Like the rest of the catalogue, Denia is made at the Stephanskirchen manufactory and is suited to both patio and spa settings.

Materials and craft

What the pieces are made of.

Across its collections Weishäupl uses solid untreated teak, powder-coated steel, brushed stainless steel AISI 304, powder-coated aluminium and Batyline seat material, paired with 100% polyacrylic outdoor fabrics treated with Teflon for water and dirt repellence. Teak is a constant from the Classic line to the Denia and Balcony collections.

On every brand page these details stay factual and sourced. Collection names, designers and materials are checked against the maker before they go live.
