Muuto
Danish design house rooted in New Nordic thinking, with furniture, lighting and accessories shaped by a roster of Scandinavian designers, read for the US buyer.
A new perspective on Scandinavian design.
Muuto was founded in Copenhagen in 2006 by Kristian Byrge and Peter Bonnén. The name derives from the Finnish word muutos, meaning new perspective, which signals the house's intent: to move Scandinavian design forward rather than replicate its mid-century canon. The catalogue spans furniture, lighting and accessories, with a focus on indoor living and a growing outdoor programme.
The house works with a roster of Nordic designers on a royalty basis, including Anderssen & Voll, Thomas Bentzen, Cecilie Manz, TAF Studio, Big-Game and Iskos-Berlin. Muuto was acquired by Knoll in January 2018 and operates today as part of the MillerKnoll group, while maintaining its Copenhagen headquarters and independent creative direction. For US buyers, collections reach the market through authorised dealers.

Settle Outdoor
Anderssen & Voll's 2025 upholstered lounge series: a galvanized, powder-coated steel frame with FSC-certified Sapele Mahogany armrests and quick-dry outdoor cushions.

Settle Outdoor
Designed by Anderssen & VollSettle Outdoor is Muuto's 2025 lounge collection, designed by the Norwegian studio Anderssen & Voll. The construction pairs a galvanized and powder-coated tubular steel frame with supporting textile bands, visible at the seat and back, as a deliberate nod to classic outdoor furniture construction. Armrests are FSC-certified Sapele Mahogany wood, generously proportioned for resting arms or drinks.
The cushions use quick-dry foam and durable outdoor textiles, bridging the comfort of an indoor sofa with the resilience outdoor use demands. The collection spans a lounge chair, a two-seater and a three-seater sofa, each sharing the same transparent frame logic and upholstered depth.
What the pieces are made of.
Across its outdoor work Muuto uses galvanized and powder-coated steel, FSC-certified teak and FSC-certified Sapele Mahogany wood, paired with quick-dry outdoor foam and weatherproof textiles. Indoor collections draw on lacquered wood, moulded plastics, upholstered foam and metal in matte powder-coat finishes.
On every brand page these details stay factual and sourced. Collection names, designers and materials are checked against the maker before they go live.
