Nanimarquina
Barcelona rug house founded in 1987, combining hand-knotting craft from India, Pakistan and Nepal with contemporary designer collaborations, read for the US buyer.
Contemporary rugs rooted in ancestral craft.
Nanimarquina was founded in 1987 by Nani Marquina in Barcelona, at a moment when Spain's design culture was opening up rapidly. Marquina studied industrial design at the Escola Massana and launched the brand with a single idea: to produce rugs that fused contemporary design with the ancestral hand-knotting and flat-weaving traditions of India, Pakistan and Nepal. Production has been anchored in South Asia since 1994, and the company became Climate Neutral certified in 2022.
The catalogue spans hand-knotted wool rugs for interiors alongside an outdoor line in recycled PET fiber. Guest designers include Jaime Hayon, Doshi Levien, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, and Inga Sempé. For US buyers, collections reach the market through authorised dealers, with lead times that vary by line and material.

Shade Outdoor
A gradient-effect outdoor rug hand-woven from 100% recycled PET fiber, weather-resistant for terraces and gardens.

Tres Outdoor
Designed by Nani Marquina and Elisa PadronTres Outdoor is the weather-resistant version of the Tres flat-weave rug, designed by Nani Marquina and Elisa Padron. The collection takes its name from the three-part weave structure of the original indoor version, here translated into 100% recycled PET fiber produced from recovered plastic bottles. The result is a rug that reads as a considered interior textile but resists water and UV exposure on a terrace or garden.
Seven colorways run across the outdoor range, from black and chocolate to ochre and salvia. The rug lies flat with the hand-loomed Dhurrie technique, giving it a low-profile and reversible surface suited to both covered and open outdoor spaces.
What the pieces are made of.
For indoor collections Nanimarquina works with hand-knotted and hand-loomed New Zealand wool, Afghan wool, cotton, felt and natural fibers, produced by artisans in India, Pakistan and Nepal. Outdoor rugs are machine- or hand-loomed in 100% recycled PET fiber, with the Garden collection pairing recycled PET with spun coir from coconut husks.
On every brand page these details stay factual and sourced. Collection names, designers and materials are checked against the maker before they go live.
